Celebrating Extraordinary Latinas!

June Pichardo-McBride, M.A. was honored with the National Mujeres Destacadas Education Award 2014 for her contribution as the founder and author of Path to Scholarships® Book Series, workshops, and her impact as a national Latina leader and motivational speaker at the La Prensa Mujeres Destacadas Awards Luncheon 2014, Friday, March 14, 2014, DoubleTree by Hilton, Orlando, Florida.


Annual Mujeres Destacadas Awards Luncheon honors extraordinary Latina women leaders who have reached a level of distinction through their hard work and determination. These Latina women have made a difference in their community and this nation in arts and culture, business and technology, community leadership, education, and health.

“Each of these remarkable women is paving the way for future generations of Latina women,” stated Monica Lozano, CEO of impreMedia. “Mujeres Destacadas not only celebrates the contributions and achievements of these women, but also showcases their great strength and tenacity that will inspire other Latinas to become tomorrow’s leaders, business owners and advocates for our communities.”

Carlos López-Cantera, Lieutenant Governor of Florida congratulated June Pichardo-McBride on her selection for the National Mujeres Destacadas Education Award 2014.

Path to Scholarships® Highlights Loan Forgiveness Programs for Teachers

Two Types of Loan Forgiveness Programs 
The first program is teacher loan forgiveness for direct subsidized and unsubsidized loans, as well as, for subsidized and unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans. The second program is cancellation for Federal Perkins Loans.
The Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program promotes individuals to enter and continue in the teaching profession. Under this program, if you teach full-time for five complete and consecutive academic years in eligible elementary and secondary schools or educational service agency that serves low-income families, and meet other qualifications, you may be eligible for forgiveness of up to a combined total of $17,500 on your Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans and your Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans. If you have PLUS loans only, you are not eligible for this type of forgiveness.


Loan Cancelation 

If you have a loan from the Federal Perkins Loan Program you might be eligible for loan cancelation for full-time teaching at a low-income school, or for teaching in certain subject areas. You can also qualify for deferment for these qualifying teaching services. Check with the school that made your Federal Perkins Loan for more information.
